County Government Agency Increases Visibility and Control of Entire Infrastructure

“Fortinet was miles ahead of everyone else in terms of ability and performance. That’s what impressed us. And I think Fortinet still outdoes everybody else when it comes to performance.”

– Salt Lake County’s Director of Information Security

In Salt Lake County, Utah, a team of seven information systems (IS) professionals is tasked with maintaining security and managing user access for up to 6,500 end users across the county. As its existing security technology neared its end of life, the county found that its legacy vendor could not deliver on its evolving need for high-throughput inspection and scalability.

A competitive bidding process revealed Fortinet as the best choice for the county. Starting with a few FortiGate next-generation firewalls (NGFWs), Salt Lake County has since deployed more than 55 FortiGate appliances. It has also built out its Fortinet Security Fabric with cost-effective end-to-end network security management, endpoint protection, and secure network access solutions.
