Digital innovation (DI) is continuously increasing the volume at which data is processed, and the speed in which applications are consumed. A wide range of industries have embraced hyperscale computing to address a variety of different use cases. For example, advanced research institutions, such as those performing genomic or aerospace research, require the ability to transfer massive datasets over the network. Ecommerce organizations, on the other hand, use hyperscale architectures to manage connection bursts on Cyber Monday and similar holidays. Hyperscale data centers include the network infrastructure to meet their needs, but without any security since security often creates network bottlenecks. Existing security solutions are struggling to keep pace with the need of hyperscale data centers. With existing next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) acting as network bottlenecks, many network engineering and operations leaders bypass them altogether. However, this leaves the organization open to attack and out of regulatory compliance.
