Large School District Achieves Automated, Highly Effective Ransomware Protection

“In addition to substantial time savings on management, FortiEDR automated both detection and response. FortiEDR enabled my team to spend more time on the other things they needed to get done day to day.”

– Former CTO, Large Texas School District

A small IT team with a sprawling school district of over 20,000 students struggled to manage endpoint security. The district’s goal was to protect teachers and staff from themselves, and to protect other network resources from not-well-informed decisions by people utilizing mobile devices. After a POC, it was impressed by FortiEDR’s (endpoint detection and response) automated detection and response capabilities. It also deployed FortiGate Network Firewalls to secure the district’s network. FortiMail protects the email system, a crucial entry point for ransomware. FortiSandbox integrates with both the FortiGate and FortiMail solutions, providing sandboxing when malware is detected. FortiAuthenticator provides single sign-on user authentication throughout the network. Lastly, the IT team uses FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer to monitor and manage all the solutions in the district’s Fortinet Security Fabric.

Learn how FortiEDR along with the Fortinet Security Fabric reduces the burden on the IT team and keeps the district’s classrooms and administration focused on their day-to-day work in this case study.
