Fortinet Appoints Edvance Technology As Pan-Region Distributor covering Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia

Hong Kong - 28/01/2015
-

Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) − a world leader in High Performance Network Security – today announced that it has appointed Edvance Technology, a security-centric strategic business solution provider, to distribute Fortinet's enterprise-class security solutions in Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia. This is the Fortinet Southeast Asia & Hong Kong team's first pan-region distribution deal covering as much as three territories.

Fortinet chose Edvance Technology for its eagerness to strengthen its network security portfolio and ambitious plans to market Fortinet's solutions. The distributor has vast experience with large IT security deployments, a broad portfolio of security products and services that are complementary to Fortinet's offerings, and a strong reseller network. It will help Fortinet gain greater inroads into large organisations by packaging its products synergistically into broader solution offerings involving multiple technology vendors. Edvance Technology also has a sizable database of direct touch end-users where it could market Fortinet's solutions directly.

While Fortinet has built up a thriving business from its flagship FortiGate® network security platforms, it has in recent years diversified beyond this core solution to related products to become an end-to-end IT security vendor, offering enterprises security that extends from the client, to databases, to Web applications, to the overall network.

Besides distributing the high-end members of the FortiGate portfolio, Edvance Technology will handle these end-to-end security solutions, with a particular focus on Fortinet's advanced persistent threat (APT) offerings which include the recently launched FortiSandbox, and FortiDDoS appliances.

"Large, complex IT security projects is the sweet spot for both Fortinet and Edvance Technology," said Cherry Fung, Fortinet's Country Manager for Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia. "By combining Fortinet's leading edge security expertise with Edvance Technology's wide network of resellers, an unprecedented number of enterprises in these territories can leverage the world's most progressive security technologies to ward off escalating cyber threats."

Fortinet is the largest network security appliances provider in Hong Kong, holding a market share of 17.52 percent according to IDC's network security appliances tracker for Q1-Q3 2014. Fung is confident that Edvance Technology's appointment can help the vendor maintain its leadership in Hong Kong and build capability in Macau and Mongolia.

Raymond Liu, Managing Director, at Edvance Technology, said this collaboration puts the distributor on a firm footing to start the New Year. “High performance firewalling, APT protection and DDoS attack mitigation are all areas that are projected to burgeon in 2015. Fortinet's technologies in these areas are the industry's best. We are excited to partner them as we boost efforts to help enterprises leverage security for greater business outcomes."

In the coming months, Edvance Technology will roll out channel engagement programs, reseller training schemes and end-user marketing activities around Fortinet's solutions.
