Fortinet Secures Romain Attanasio’s Boat on the Journey to the Vendée Globe 2024

“Today, reliable and secure communications technology is important for staying in touch with friends, family and colleagues, but when I am alone on a solo ocean race it becomes critical. As momentum builds towards the 10th Vendée Globe, I’m working closely with Fortinet to achieve the goal of reliable and secure internet connectivity wherever I am.”

Romain Attanasio, Skipper, Fortinet-Best Western

The Vendée Globe is a solo, non-stop ocean race starting from Les Sables d'Olonne in the Vendée region of France. In the 2024 race, Skipper Romain Attanasio will rely on numerous on-board sensors to collect data from the boat, as well as internet connectivity to ingest external feeds such as weather. To ensure reliable and secure communication in the middle of the ocean, Attanasio has partnered with Fortinet. They are deploying and extensively testing a FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall and FortiAP access points on board the 18-meter racing vessel.

Learn how the ruggedized, bandwidth-efficient Fortinet solution is promising smooth sailing for Attanasio in this written and this video case study.
