Fortinet Gains UK Government Foundation Grade Certification

Sunnyvale, Calif. - 29/11/2015
-

Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT), a global leader in high-performance cyber security solutions, today announced its portfolio of FortiGate® next generation and data center firewalls has gained the UK Government’s Foundation Grade certification. In doing so, Fortinet joins an elite group of vendors awarded this recognition by CESG, the UK’s national technical authority for information assurance.

CESG Foundation Grade Certification is a stringent process that tests and certificates commercially available products against published security and development standards. This certification is in the category of Stateful Traffic Filter Firewalls and will enable a larger proportion of the UK government market, as well as the wider public sector, to take advantage of Fortinet’s technology.

Rupert Clayson, Regional Director, UK&I, Fortinet, said “This new certification demonstrates our commitment to the public sector. Rigorous processes like CESG Foundation Grade Certification are crucial to keeping the UK safe and secure from online threats and this certification underlines the quality and technical leadership of FortiGate platforms.”

CESG added “The aim of Foundation Grade Certification is to give government data owners confidence that a product will perform its stated security functions. Products with CESG Foundation Grade certification have been independently tested and have met CESG’s security standards - and above all, can be trusted.”

Fortinet’s extensive FortiGate product suite includes the FortiGate-3810D, the world’s first and only firewall appliance with 100GbE interfaces and 300+ Gbps throughput, to meet the stringent performance and connectivity demands of next generation high-speed data centers across all industries including government/public sector.

Clayson concluded, “As the threat landscape continually evolves, UK public sector organisations demand advanced protection from sophisticated, highly targeted attacks. We’ve become a substantial presence within this market, with solutions that support digital transformation, drive greater operational efficiency, and deliver value for money and excellent support. This achievement is the latest in a long line of government-sponsored certifications for Fortinet around the world, and one – we believe – that demonstrates our significance over alternative offerings in the marketplace.”
