Securing Microsoft Azure: A new Fortinet-Microsoft Cloud Security Workshop Series

On June 8^th, Microsoft will be hosting Fortinet’s Azure Cloud team to discuss how to secure your cloud workloads.  The events, being held in Mississauga, Ontario & downtown Toronto, will be packed with leaders from Microsoft’s Enterprise Software & Cloud and Fortinet’s Cloud Security teams, delivering a customer-focused workshop on cloud security. 

For many organizations the value – speed, agility, productivity, and cost reduction, etc. – of moving to the public cloud is not only compelling, it is becoming mission critical.  However, securing public cloud workloads remains a top of mind concern for many organizations. Not only do they want to ensure that their workloads are protected as they move into and across the cloud, but they also want to ensure that these cloud security solutions integrate with the rest of their overall security policies in order to maintain high visibility, granular control, and seamless policy enforcement regardless of where a workload may travel across their highly distributed network environments. 

Fortinet has partnered with Microsoft to bring security to the Azure cloud environment so that organizations can establish and maintain consistent security profiles and policies between their cloud, physical, and virtual networks. We do this with a unified security posture and integrated security fabric framework designed to maximize the protection of digital assets and assure secure operations as workloads move dynamically between distributed network architectures. 

In many ways, Fortinet’s Azure public cloud security program is simply business as usual.  Fortinet was a pioneer in building virtual security machines and solutions, going back nearly a decade.  Fortinet’s virtual solutions run the same code, deliver identical features and capabilities, and integrate seamlessly with our physical appliances.  Fortinet customers running Azure workloads are able to orchestrate all of these distributed deployments through a single pane of glass security management console that covers both on-premise physical appliances as well as Azure VMs.  Fortinet has taken a “no compromise” integrated approach to public cloud, as customer data is simply too important to not provide consistent world-class protection no matter where the workload runs. 

Below is a reference architecture from a real-world use case.  As you can see, the cloud architecture looks much like what you would expect from a physical data center. Microsoft built Azure from the ground up to support mission critical Enterprise workloads, and this is clear when you see what can really be deployed on the platform.

 For many organizations, there’s still a lot of mystery related to the public cloud.  Which is why Microsoft & Fortinet are leading this discussion and workshop on June 8^th, designed to help you address your cloud security concerns and challenges in order unlock the potential of the public cloud, and accelerate your migration to the new digital business economy. By the end of the session, cloud security will be “demystified.”
