FortiModules Accelerated Interface Modules

Fortinet accelerated interface modules increase the flexibility of FortiGate® and FortiCarrier™ platforms with 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interface Options. They also provide additional security performance for the platforms, adding wire-speed firewall and near wire-speed IPSec VPN security for traffic traversing the module's ports.

Fortinet accelerated interface modules include embedded FortiASIC™ processors to accelerate the performance of your FortiGate system. By performing firewall and IPSec VPN security functions at the interface level, modules offload processing overhead from the host system, freeing system resources for other functions. They are available in both single-width and double-width Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) standards, as well as the Fortinet Mezzanine Card (FMC) form factor for FortiGate-3950 series appliances, and the Rear Transition Module (RTM) form factor for FortiGate-5000 series chassis.

Features and Benefits

  • Incremental firewall and IPSec VPN performance beyond the base system capacity, delivering additional scalability to meet increased traffic demands
  • Increased port density allows greater flexibility in accommodating changes in the network design

Fortinet provides us with a secure environment in a simplified management scheme and very low maintenance. The performance of Fortinet's firewall is second to none. All the required security functions are truly integrated, and the ease of configuration of the FortiGate appliances allowed us to carry out the initial deployment within two weeks in spite of a relatively large and widespread installed base. Today, implementing new VPN tunnels with hotels is a matter of an hour or less. Our goal is to replace the existing ISDN connections from several thousand hotel customers with VPN connections.
