The Tolly Reports
Backed by Fortinet's in-house team of security researchers, Fortinet's FortiMail solution blocks unwanted spam and email threats without reliance on 3rd party technologies. Incoming and outgoing messages are inspected from a single device that can easily be deployed in networks of any size with no per-user licensing fees.
The Tolly Group was commissioned by Fortinet to test the antispam, antivirus and email security features of Fortinet's FortiMail product against two popular competitors. For small and medium network environments, the FortiMail-100 was tested against a Barracuda 200; for large enterprise environments and service providers, the FortiMail-4000A was tested against an IronPort C350.

The test results showed that the FortiMail-100 generated a significantly lower rate of false negatives (missed spam) and false positives (incorrectly blocked messages) than the Barracuda 200.

The test results showed that the FortiMail-4000A and IronPort C350 were roughly equal in spam detection accuracy. However, the FortiMail-4000A was significantly less expensive than the IronPort device, while offering features and deployment options not found on the IronPort C350.
