Thai Airline Deploys Fortinets Solutions for Low-Latency Firewalling and Efficient Email Security
BANGKOK, Thailand, July 6, 2010 - Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions today announced that Nok Air, a low-cost airline in Thailand, has deployed FortiGate® multi-security appliances and FortiMail™ appliances for firewalling, antivirus and antispam protection at Nok Airs headquarters in Bangkok and airline offices across the country in the first quarter of 2010. Two FortiGate-3810A appliances and two FortiMail-400B appliances were deployed at True Internet, the hosting data centre of Nok Air. The appliances were chosen for their high-performance, simplified management and cost-effectiveness.
As data traffic on Nok Airs network has increased tremendously in the past years, the airline realized that its security deployment was no longer able to cope with its bandwidth requirements. Nok Air therefore decided to look for a low-latency firewall solution to sanitize traffic and a more efficient messaging security solution to protect its users from email spam and viruses. Based on the recommendations of CCN-Tech, its IT partner, Nok Air tested Fortinets solutions and decided to replace its aging Juniper and Trend Micro security solutions with Fortinets FortiGate and FortiMail appliances.
Sirinum Jiradilok, vice president of IT at Nok Air, said, ÏWhen we tested Fortinets equipment we were impressed by the high-performance and low latency. Since deployment, we have seen improved business performance due to increased network bandwidth and faster application process. FortiGates high availability backup functionality is also highly efficient, impacting positively our maintenance and service availability.
Working alongside CCN-Tech, Nok Air has deployed the two FortiGate-3810A appliances to provide firewalling security at its headquarters in Bangkok and its 15 remote offices across Thailand. The two FortiMail-400B appliances provide email security to Nok Airs local and remote employees, 600 in total.
As a next step, Nok Air plans to evaluate the use of Fortinets security solutions in the areas of IPS, network access control (NAC) and data security to meet PCI/DSS security compliance requirements.
Peerapong Jongvibool, country manager of Fortinet Thailand, added, ÏWe are honored to secure Nok Airs high traffic network, which needs to be up and running at optimal levels to enable a smooth customer experience for its travelers. Fortinets security technology has once again proven its superior performance and reliability in order to meet the needs of customers operating in high-intensity environments.
