HRMall, Inc. Chooses Fortinet to Strengthen Security Perimeter

FortiGate-310B Appliances Answer HRMall's Need for High Performance

MANILA, Philippines, November 26, 2008 - Fortinet® - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, today announced that HRMall Inc., wholly owned by Ayala Corporation (PSE: AC), one of the largest and most widely diversified conglomerates in the Philippines, has deployed Fortinet's FortiGate™ 310B multi-threat security appliances to secure its internal networks. HRMall has secured and separated their network into several segments, namely internal network (with one virtual domain to protect an offsite location), DMZ network to protect server farms and a separate virtual private network (VPN) network for remote access security for mobile users. FortiGate appliances provide HRMall the required firewall robustness and UTM capabilities needed to protect its network as the organization gears itself to deliver bandwidth intensive e-learning solutions as part of its expansion plans.

As a growing entity within a giant parent conglomerate, HRMall was previously supported by Globe-Innove (another Ayala subsidiary) for its firewall security solution but needed to deploy its own security solution due to rapid business expansion as a human resources business process outsourcing company.

"We are pleased to be able to find a network security vendor who is able to provide us the desired security solution that is scalable and easy to manage while supporting up to 10,000 remote users. The FortiGate-310B's robust performance, network segmentation capabilities and high port density make it a very compelling and highly competitive buy. Fortinet's FortiGate platform is highly scalable to accommodate our future business growth plans," said Net Abangan, Chief Technology Officer of HRMall, Inc.

HRMall deployed the FortiGate-310B appliance at its primary data center and main office to protect its network with integrated enterprise firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, antivirus/ antispyware, spam filtering, Web filtering and traffic-shaping functionality. The organization has also deployed FortiAnalyzer to aggregate and analyze log data from FortiGate security appliances.

HRMall has also subscribed to Fortinet's FortiGuard?Network subscription services for antivirus, intrusion prevention, Web content filtering and antispam security solutions. FortiGuard Services leverage Fortinet's reputation database and signatures to identify and block spam, phishing attempts, viruses, spyware and other email-borne threats and deliver automatic real-time updates to FortiGate appliances located around the world.

"HRMall was looking for strong and scalable security solution to support its projected heavy e-learning Web traffic. The FortiGate appliance and analysis solution meet that need by providing security to protect against network and content level threats, ease of use and robust conditioning for high usage patterns. We look forward to continuing to support HRMall and its sister companies to protect and secure its expanding networks in the most robust manner," added Benjamin Teh, sales director for Fortinet South Asia.

FortiGate systems deliver real-time network protection through the integration of essential security applications and services - including firewall, antivirus, VPN, IPS, anti-spam, Web content filtering and traffic shaping - that can be deployed individually, or combined as a UTM solution. All FortiGate systems are kept up-to-date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard Network, which provides broad updates that help provide protection against the most damaging threats commonly found in email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, vulnerability exploit attempts and other unwanted network traffic - around the clock and around the world.
