Fortinet's FortiClient Earns Seventh Consecutive Virus Bulletin 100% Award

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 8, 2009 - Fortinet® - a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -today announced that its FortiClient™ end-point security software was awarded a seventh consecutive Virus Bulletin 100% (VB100) award for 2008/2009 testing, totaling 13 VB100 awards that Fortinet has received throughout its history. The latest VB100 test evaluated more than 20 antivirus solutions running on the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

The VB100, a distinguished industry award, recognizes products that have been tested by independent experts and proven to accurately detect 100 percent of viruses known to be "in the wild," constituting current, real-world threats.

In addition to testing positively against a host of in-the-wild threats, Virus Bulletin testers also found the FortiClient interface smooth and orderly, offering good levels of configuration and a range of fine-tuning options for flexibility and protection.

"Earning seven VB100 awards in a row keeps Fortinet among the best in our industry for virus detection and performance; FortiClient's strong antivirus capabilities stand apart from our competitors, many of whom do not offer AV as part of a comprehensive end-to-end integrated security platform," said Anthony James, vice president of products, Fortinet. "We're honored to be recognized again by such a well-respected testing team. This achievement speaks highly of our dedication to providing customers with powerful and differentiated antivirus products to meet their constantly evolving security needs."

Virus Bulletin staff tested FortiClient 4.0 among 21 other antivirus products for detection rates, lack of false positives and speed of scanning. In addition, ease of installation and configuration were also assessed.

Fortinet's FortiClient host security software extends the benefits of Fortinet's certified UTM gateway solutions to provide secure access and end-to-end protection for enterprises -- including telecommuters, mobile workers, remote sites -- and consumers. The unified security agent for personal computers integrates host antivirus, host anti-spyware, a personal firewall, anti-spam, IPSec VPN, Web filtering and registry monitoring. FortiClient supports the most popular Microsoft Windows operating systems, including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Vista, and also includes network address translation (NAT) traversal, centralized policy management, multiple policy support for access to multiple devices, strong encryption and a comprehensive set of tools for troubleshooting. FortiClient also supports 64-bit for both Microsoft Windows XP™ and Windows 2003 Server.

How to Buy

Purchase Fortinet Products

Fortinet provides us with a secure environment in a simplified management scheme and very low maintenance. The performance of Fortinet's firewall is second to none. All the required security functions are truly integrated, and the ease of configuration of the FortiGate appliances allowed us to carry out the initial deployment within two weeks in spite of a relatively large and widespread installed base. Today, implementing new VPN tunnels with hotels is a matter of an hour or less. Our goal is to replace the existing ISDN connections from several thousand hotel customers with VPN connections.
