FortiMail's "Excellent Anti-Spam" Capabilities Highlighted as Strength
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Mar. 19, 2009 - Fortinet®- a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced its FortMail™-400B email security appliance has been given an overall five-star rating by SC Magazine in the publication's March 2009 email content management review. SC Magazine reviewers highlighted the FortiMail-400B as having excellent anti-spam capabilities and "flexible, granular enterprise-based administration." SC Magazine evaluated areas including features, performance, ease-of-use, documentation, support and value for money. The FortiMail's overall rating was out of a possible five stars.
The FortiMail-400B is a mid-enterprise email security appliance that is deployed in front of email resources and servers to block spam and viruses from penetrating email systems so that they never reach end-user mailboxes. FortiMail has received numerous third-party validations, including ICSA Labs antispam certification. In addition, FortiMail appliances have demonstrated the ability to block 99.87 percent of spam in live, independent tests as reported by the Tolly Group.
"SC Magazine's 5-star rating of the FortiMail appliance is further validation to Fortinet's current and future customers of the strength of our product, which is already enabling one of the highest spam catch rates in the industry," said Anthony James, vice president of products, Fortinet. "The use of email as a business communications tool is critical to the smooth operations of the global economy today, so it is imperative for an email security product to not only block spam at the highest rates, but also at the speed at which business is being conducted."
One way that the FortiMail family of email security appliances enables real-time spam blocking is through the Fortinet FortiGuard™ Security Services, which are designed to automatically update FortiMail devices with the latest threats and spam recognition methodologies without complications from additional third-party security vendors. FortiMail provides email security through device-based licensing, which offers better investment protection than a per-user licensing model. We handle a lot of very confidential and time sensitive data for which security is absolutely essential. So, when we decided to move our existing services and systems online for more efficiency, we had to ensure that not only our data would be protected but also that our network would maintain its high performance, delivery throughput and high availability. Fortinet's FortiGate-800 systems provided the performance, flexibility and security we were looking for. Combined with other networked solutions deployed by DPS, we felt that it was the most effective solution for us.
