Fortinet Receives ICSA Certification for Antivirus Detection and Removal

FortiClient™ desktop antivirus, firewall, VPN and Web filtering security software suite recognized for its outstanding antivirus capabilities

SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 1, 2005 - Fortinet - the pioneer and market leader of Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based multi-threat security systems for real-time network protection- today announced that its FortiClient™ Host Security software has received ICSA certification for Antivirus Cleaning and Desktop Antivirus Detection, verifying that Fortinet's client solution will protect host PCs or servers from being infected by "in the wild" and other computer viruses.

Fortinet's FortiClient Host Security software received ICSA Labs' Antivirus Certification based on the following criteria:

  • Antivirus Cleaning - the ability to remove "in-the-wild" viruses from infected files and sectors, and remove all viruses without adversely affecting the data or functionality that existed before becoming infected. In addition, FortiClient can clean any of the viruses it detects, including legacy viruses.
  • Desktop Antivirus Detection - the capability to detect viruses on-demand, detect and prevent the replication of viruses on-access, report no false positives, log the results of virus detection attempts and perform necessary administrative functions. In addition, FortiClient supports real-time antivirus detection.

Fortinet is the only network security vendor to date to receive a unique and in-demand set of security certifications - seven ICSA certifications including five distinct security applications on its FortiGate integrated security appliances (firewall, antivirus, intrusion detection/prevention, IPSec VPN and SSL VPN), and two desktop antivirus certifications for FortiClient (cleaning and detection); VB 100% for FortiClient, and NSS certification for its intrusion prevention system (IPS) technology.

"We are proud to receive the highly acclaimed ICSA Labs' Antivirus Certification for our FortClient Host Security software," said Michael Xie, founder, CTO and VP of engineering for Fortinet. "This award is a testament to Fortinet's strength in the security market, the technical prowess of our FortiClient host antivirus technology and our ability to provide proven end-to-end real-time network security."
