Fortinet FortiGateª-60 Awarded "Security Product of the Year" by Network Computing Magazine

Also Honored With "Best Multi-Function Security Appliance" Well-Connected Award

LAS VEGAS/Networld+Interop, May 11, 2004 -Fortinet - the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection - today announced its FortiGate-60 Antivirus Firewall was named "Security Product of the Year" by CMP Media LLC's Network Computing Magazine. Lauded for its breadth and depth of functionality, the FortiGate-60 beat out products from approximately 30 security vendors, including Cisco, Juniper Networks, Nortel Networks, Trend Micro, Network Associates and others to win Network Computing's coveted Well-Connected Award for Security Product of the Year.

The FortiGate-60 device was also honored with a second Well-Connected Award for "Best Multifunction Security Appliance," and was selected over competing products from Astaro Corp. and ServGate based on superior performance, reliability, ease-of-management and connectivity options. Fortinet and other Well-Connected Award winners were recognized at a CMP awards ceremony held last night in Las Vegas.

"A 'Shoo-In' for Security Product of the Year"
In a feature article about the Annual Well-Connected Awards, Network Computing's Senior Technology Editor Mike Fratto wrote: "Fortinet's Fortigate-60 packs six critical functions--firewall, VPN, antivirus, content filtering, and intrusion and DoS detection--into one compact, well-rounded appliance. We found that its intuitive user interface let us configure all features properly the first time out....and the fact that it includes all the items on our wish list means you won't have to spring for additional technologies to erect a strong wall between you and the bad guys. The breadth and depth of functionality made this device a shoo-in for Security Product of the Year."

Ideally suited for small businesses and remote offices, Fortinet's award-winning FortiGate-60 Antivirus Firewall detects and eliminates the most damaging and dangerous content-based threats at the network edges without degrading network performance. The product's ASIC-powered antivirus protection strips harmful, content-based attacks - including viruses, worms and Trojans - from real-time Web traffic as well as email messages at the network edge, even from within encrypted VPN tunnels, before these threats can reach vital servers and desktops.

"The Well-Connected Awards are the only industry awards given by technologists based on real-world product testing and evaluation. We view all products, technologies and services from the same perspective as our readers -- our peers - do," said Fritz Nelson, VP and Group Publisher of Network Computing Enterprise Architecture Group. "This is an important distinction from any other award program - the products selected in the Well Connected Awards are unique because they have been tested over an enterprise by our editors themselves. They are truly innovative solutions that work."

Network Computing's Well-Connected Awards honor the year's outstanding technology products and services and represent the very best products and services the technology industry has to offer in networking. They are chosen by the technology editors of Network Computing from products that have been tested and evaluated in the publication's eal-World Labs.

"Network Computing's labs are well known and highly respected for conducting thorough testing and evaluation of products in the market, and the selection of our FortiGate-60 device by this respected organization is a testament to the product's ability to deliver the best possible performance, a robust feature set and value for the IT dollar," said ichard Kagan, vice president of marketing for Fortinet. "We're pleased that the editor's of Network Computing have validated the FortiGate-60 system as the best security product on the market."

Not only is the volume of email traffic rising but with it, the complexity of malware with the presence of blended threats combining spam, viruses, worms and spyware. To help ensure optimum service and security for our customers, we needed an effective multi-layered solution that combined antivirus, anti-spam and anti-spyware technologies in one appliance. FortiMail met our performance requirements while providing ease-of-use and management to our IT team which is essential as we do not have the time or resources to deploy and maintain separate point solutions.
