Taiwan's Largest Service Provider Reinforces Confidence in Fortinet; Again Selects FortiGate Appliances as Security Backbone
TAIWAN October 1, 2009 - Fortinet® - a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions today announced that Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (NYSE: CHT) has deployed Fortinet FortiGate® multi-threat security appliances as the security backbone for its newly updated HiNet managed security service (MSS) offering. Fortinets FortiGate-80C has been selected to secure HiNets latest broadband promotional service called Security Fleet 2010. Back by popular demand, this new offering is an upgraded offering from the well-received Security Fleet 2.0 offering, which was also based on the FortiGate-60B security platform.
With FortiGate-80C appliances, HiNet, the leading service provider in the Taiwan, can protect customers networks against the blended threatscape, a situation in which Internet threats get more sophisticated and dangerous. UTM solutions provide broad and holistic protection against the blended threatscape.
HiNet is a business unit of Chunghwa Telecom, the largest service provider in Taiwan, providing fixed line, FTTx, ADSL and diversified Internet and data services to more than four million residential and business customers. HiNets new MSS offering aims at providing broadband customers with robust protection through the integration of multiple security applications including firewall, antivirus, intrusion prevention (IPS), virtual private network (VPN), Web filtering and anti-spam on a single platform.

UTM is a competent security approach to provide comprehensive security for HiNets customers, who can expect strong security with this recent project rollout.
