Nissan Deploys Fortinet's Enterprise UTM Systems to Protect Headquarter, Sales and Distribution OfficesGlobal 50 Company Protects Distributed Corporate Network with Fortinet SolutionsSUNNYVALE, Calif, - Dec 18, 2007 - Fortinet® - a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that Nissan™ Korea has successfully deployed Fortinet's FortiGate™ security appliances to help provide comprehensive protection for its main headquarters in Seoul, four sales offices in Seoul, Seoung-nam and Busan, and one distribution center in Kim-po. Nissan is the maker of award-winning automobiles including the Infiniti™ range of luxury cars and SUVs. Due to increased demand for the Infiniti™ line, the company has opened a new Infiniti™ only manufacturing location in Korea. As part of this expansion, Nissan Korea initiated a project to improve security by providing gateway antivirus and firewall at its headquarters and to provide secure connections to sales and distribution centers using a virtual private network (VPN). On the recommendation of its system integration partner, SysOne, Nissan Korea selected Fortinet's FortiGate multi-threat security appliances. Hwang Young-chul, manager of the security business team at SysOne, explains the reasons behind their recommendation: "At the beginning of the project, Nissan Korea explained that they recognized the need to have a credible network security system in place. Fortinet was a proven brand, with many foreign automobile companies already using FortiGate systems, and for us, the most important factor was the superior performance of the FortiGate systems, even with security functions such as antivirus, firewall and VPN turned on." Nissan Korea, with the help of SysOne, deployed a FortiGate-800 enterprise-class security appliance at its corporate office, four FortiGate-100A appliances at each of its four sales offices, and one FortiGate-60 appliance at its distribution center. The FortiGate systems are being used as both firewall and gateway antivirus, as well as for secure VPN connectivity between the head office, sales offices and distribution center, and to help protect sales, order and customer information. "The project went very smoothly, considering that it was done on a live network that receives a lot of traffic every day. We also tested the throughput as well as scalability and efficiency of the Fortinet systems, and found them to be nothing less than impressive," said Mr. Hwang. Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date by Fortinet's FortiGuard™ subscription services, which provide updates to help protect against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats - around the clock, and around the world. "The automobile industry is very important to us and South Korea is one of the world's leading manufacturers. Nissan Korea is a big win for Fortinet as it raises our profile and proves that we are able to meet the security and connectivity needs of larger enterprises," said Justin Lee, country manager for Fortinet Korea.

RESOURCE CENTER
Our IT team needs to support a number of small offices and people that regularly work from home. We were spending a significant amount of time troubleshooting problems for our teleworkers, and these problems often led to time consuming site visits. To reduce our support costs for teleworkers, we decided that we needed a smarter way of securing their access to our systems. |
