Asierus Relies on Fortinet for Virtualized Managed Security SolutionLeading MSSP and its Customers Benefit from Unified Threat Management Protection in a Virtualized ModelSUNNYVALE, Calif, - Nov 6, 2007 - Fortinet® - a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that Asierus, Inc.™, a leader in outsourced network management and virtualized network infrastructure technology, has deployed Fortinet 's FortiGate™ multi-threat security systems for its new virtualized SECURE AnyWare™ managed security product offering, which allows its customers to outsource and virtualize their network security infrastructures. Using Fortinet 's FortiGate-3600A high-performance systems, Asierus is providing firewall, antivirus, Web content filtering, anti-spam, VPN and intrusion prevention functionality to its customers. In order to offer its customers an enterprise-class virtualized IT environment, Asierus required a solution that would provide not only what the company believed to be the best unified threat management offering available, but also the ability to economically partition and centrally manage hundreds of networks through virtualized network security. After rigorous testing and evaluation of other technologies, Asierus selected Fortinet as its exclusive network security vendor and the FortiGate systems as the backbone of its virtualized SECURE AnyWare platform. The FortiGate-3600A systems are being deployed in Asierus ' core data center, where they provide full UTM functionality - including firewall, antivirus, Web content filtering, anti-spam, VPN and intrusion prevention - to all MSSP 's customers. The systems are also helping to provide hundreds of virtual domains (VDOMS) for Asierus ' existing and new customers. Fortinet 's unique approach to virtualization, leveraging VDOMs, provides large enterprises, MSSPs and carriers a high-performance platform for manageability of multiple domains and networks from a single device with domain-specific administrative profiles; scalability for providing the performance to support thousands of virtual networks without impacting overall network throughput, specific users or applications; and the modularity that can only be achieved with a broad security suite. Asierus manages its data center performance through its SMART NOC™ (System Management and Real-Time Network Operation Center). Asierus has deployed within SMART NOC Fortinet 's FortiManager™ and FortiAnalyzer™ to monitor all of the FortiGate systems and VDOMs. By deploying FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, Asierus can now provide its customers with detailed reports on network usage and attempted attacks. "Our completely virtualized network security offering would not be possible without Fortinet 's ability to partition hundreds of networks while managing them from a central location and protecting them from malicious Internet attacks using tightly integrated security functions," said Jeremy Simmons, CEO at Asierus. "Fortinet is allowing us to offer enterprise- and carrier-grade network protection to all our customers regardless of company size." Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping. FortiGate systems are centrally managed by Fortinet's FortiManager appliances which minimize the administrative effort required to deploy, configure, monitor and maintain the full range of network protection services provided by Fortinet products. FortiAnalyzer systems are purpose built appliances that provide valuable intelligence and simplify and centralize the collection and analysis of log and event data from Fortinet's FortiGate security appliances, delivering highly relevant network reports, valuable intelligence on network usage and assistance with meeting regulatory compliance. "Allowing our MSSP customers to partition their networks is becoming more and more critical as networks proliferate and MSSPs build out more and more complicated infrastructures to support business-critical applications," said Karl Soderlund, vice president of Americas sales and global alliances for Fortinet. "Customers such as Asierus rely on Fortinet 's unique approach to virtualization so that all functionalities can be partitioned and managed rather than just a few."
