Fortinet's FortiClient Software Earns Sixth Virus Bulletin 100% Award

FortiClient Endpoint Security Software Receives 100 Percent Rating in Every Category of Microsoft Windows XP Test

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 6, 2007 - Fortinet® - a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that its FortiClient™ end-point security software has earned its sixth consecutive Virus Bulletin 100% award for its outstanding anti-virus capabilities. In this test, for anti-virus products running on Microsoft Windows XP, FortiClient was one of only five of 36 products to earn the top ranking of 100 percent accuracy in detecting viruses in every category tested.

Well-known in the industry, the Virus Bulletin (VB) 100% awards recognize products that have been tested by independent experts and proven to accurately detect 100 percent of viruses known to be "in the wild," constituting current, real-world viruses.

As noted in the June issue of the Virus Bulletin report: "Fortinet's recent elevation to the top rank of products that miss nothing in any of our zoo sets continues, with full detection scored throughout."

Virus Bulletin experts tested FortiClient version 3.0.412 along with 35 other anti-virus products for their detection rates, lack of false positives and speed of scanning. Besides giving Fortinet's client software high marks for virus detection, Virus Bulletin experts also recognized its flexible configuration, ease of use and performance.

"Microsoft Windows XP remains the standard operating system for many businesses and these tests show that FortiClient is one of only a few products on the market to receive the top mark for fully protecting XP's users against Internet threats," said Michael Xie, Fortinet founder, CTO and vice president of engineering. "Our performance in these tests, which garnered us our sixth consecutive VB 100% award, is a testament to Fortinet's strength in the anti-virus market and the excellent work accomplished by our engineering and global security research teams."

This latest VB 100% award adds to Fortinet's impressive portfolio of technology certifications and accolades - including six VB 100% awards, NSS certification for UTM, and eight ICSA certifications (firewall, anti-virus, IPSec, SSL, Network IPS, client anti-virus detection, cleaning and anti-spyware).

Most manufacturers were able to offer two out of our three desired security functions but Fortinet was the only vendor with the capability to provide all three in a single security solution, while meeting our high expectations in terms of performance and cost effectiveness. On top of providing first-class security, the flexibility of the FortiGate systems allows our security solution to evolve on a per-region basis, as and when required. Moving forward, Fortinet's integrated approach means that other security functions such as SSL VPN, firewall and traffic shaping can be switched as per a country's individual requirements. As a fast-growing acquisitive company, this made for a very compelling proposition.
