Fortinet Serves Up Cost-Effective WAN Security to Roy's RestaurantsRenowned Hawaiian Restaurant Chain Blocks Attacks and Secures Remote Users/Locations with Fortinet's FortiGate™ Antivirus Firewalls and FortiClient™ Host Security SoftwareSUNNYVALE, Calif., October 20, 2004 - Fortinet, Inc., the confirmed market leader in Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection, today announced that Roy's Restaurants Hawaii, founded by famous chef Roy Yamaguchi, has deployed Fortinet's FortiGate Antivirus Firewall platform to protect its wide area network (WAN) and Fortinet's FortiClient Host Security software to enable secure and affordable remote access between restaurants and for traveling employees. Roy's Restaurants creates and serves fine Hawaiian fusion cuisine from 30 restaurants around the world, six of which are located across four Hawaiian Islands. Roy's wanted to create an integrated and secure wide area network (WAN) that connected each of their Hawaiian restaurants without a huge expense and better protect against network viruses, worms and other cyber attacks. Additionally, centralized management and secure remote access was a critical requirement as their Executive staff resides at the company headquarters on the Island of Oahu. Office personnel frequently traveled to the outer-island restaurants requiring access to the central servers. Roy's Restaurants found their solution in Fortinet's FortiGate Antivirus Firewalls and FortiClient Host Security software. "We selected Fortinet's solutions because they deliver the most robust, comprehensive and affordable security available and help us better utilize our WAN links. In addition to providing superior protection and remote access, Fortinet's solutions offered us an ideal centralized, remote management solution that was both quick and easy to deploy," said Rainer Kumbroch, General Manager of Roy's Restaurants Hawaii. "We have clearly seen the benefits of using Fortinet. The FortiGate systems have already stopped many virus/worm attacks and the FortiClient VPNs have decreased our telecommunications costs by hundreds of dollars per month." Working with Honolulu-based network solution provider Paradise Canyon Systems, Roy's Restaurants purchased Fortinet FortiGate-60 Antivirus Firewalls for deployment at each of its six Hawaiian restaurants to enable complete security for its WAN against hackers and all types of network threats -- including worms, viruses, Trojans and spyware. Using Fortinet's FortiClient VPN software, Roy's Restaurants replaced its expensive frame relay lines with private Internet tunnels over Oceanic Time Warner Cable links, which enables secure, affordable remote access to and from each restaurant. Fortinet's ASIC-accelerated FortiGate-60 Antivirus Firewalls deliver real-time complete content protection through the integration of a broad range of security functions -- including antivirus, firewall, virtual private networking (VPN), intrusion detection and prevention, content filtering, traffic shaping, and anti-spam. Ideally suited for small offices and enterprise branch locations like Roy's Restaurants, the FortiGate-60 systems feature dual WAN link support for redundant Internet connections, and an integrated four-port switch to give networked devices a direct connection to the system without degrading performance or reliability. Fortinet's FortiClient Host Security software works seamlessly with the FortiGate systems to support a wide range of applications, including remote access to corporate networks, remote systems administration, file transfer, access to corporate email and Web-based intranets and extranets - all with a single, easy-to-use interface. "Network attacks don't discriminate. A security breach can affect a renowned establishment like Roy's Restaurants just like it could a financial institution or materials manufacturer - by eroding customer confidence or jeopardizing customer financial transaction information," said Richard Hanke, vice president of product management for Fortinet. "As Roy's Restaurants has found, Fortinet's FortiGate-60 platform provides small offices and branch offices with comprehensive security and better WAN efficiencies without the cost or management complexity of point security solutions."

Deloitte Touche TohmatsuSan Jose, California Not only is the volume of email traffic rising but with it, the complexity of malware with the presence of blended threats combining spam, viruses, worms and spyware. To help ensure optimum service and security for our customers, we needed an effective multi-layered solution that combined antivirus, anti-spam and anti-spyware technologies in one appliance. FortiMail met our performance requirements while providing ease-of-use and management to our IT team which is essential as we do not have the time or resources to deploy and maintain separate point solutions. |
