Leading Australian ISV Re-Writes Security Architecture; Selects Fortinet SolutionsFortiGate™ Antivirus Firewalls Provide Technology One with Secure Data and Communications Infrastructure at Low CostSunnyvale, Calif., July 13, 2004 - Fortinet - the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection today announced that Technology One (ASX:TNE), a leading Australian business software provider, has implemented Fortinet's FortiGate™ platform to secure and connect its ten offices and 300 employees located throughout Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Technology One focuses on the design, development, implementation, and support of intelligent enterprise-wide software solutions for numerous vertical markets, including commercial, retail and government. The company embarked on enhancing its security infrastructure after experiencing reliability issues and excessive licensing and upgrade costs with its existing software-based firewall offering. Finding a solution that could protect against content-based threats carried by HTTP traffic was an important criteria for Technology One. Many of its employees access web-based private email via the corporate network offering convenience and flexibility for staff, but a significant challenge for IT staff, given the increased prevalence of sophisticated, content-based attacks often disguised as legitimate HTTP traffic to enter the corporate network. Research, advice and evaluation led Technology One to select Fortinet, concluding that the company's FortiGate antivirus firewall platform made the best business sense. FortiGate systems are complete content security solutions that protect against the growing number of costly, content-based threats at the network's edge, while delivering the highest possible performance. They deliver enterprise-class antivirus, firewall, VPN, content filtering and intrusion detection/ prevention, anti-spam and traffic shaping in a single, easy to manage and cost-effective system. The FortiGate systems are able to scan Internet traffic in real time and are kept up to date automatically through Fortinet's FortiProtect™ Network, which delivers continuous and automatic "push" updates that ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats around the clock, and around the world. "Once we discovered the possibilities of Fortinet's integrated FortiGate appliances, we found that there were no other products on the market that could compare to the degree of functionality, performance and affordability that Fortinet offers," said Andrew Bauer, IT manager at Technology One. "Our deployment was quick and easy and we've been quite impressed with the FortiGate solutions thus far. Fortinet's products have largely been set and forget and they are an important part of our business." Technology One has deployed Fortinet's enterprise-class FortiGate-500 antivirus firewall at its Brisbane headquarters and FortiGate-60 antivirus firewalls in five of its branch offices. In addition to more efficient management, Technology One has experienced significantly better security since implementing the Fortinet solutions a combined result of the complete content security provided by all FortiGate systems and the fact that all units can be configured and managed centrally, making it easier to define and enforce a strong network-wide security policy. Technology One is also using the FortiGate solutions to implement virtual private networks (VPNs) that enable secure, reliable and affordable communications for remote offices and users. The company plans to further explore other functions of its existing Fortinet products and also acquire new Fortinet products as it grows and expands. "Companies around the world are realizing the security and cost benefits of Fortinet's integrated, hardware-based FortiGate solutions," said Matthew Young III, Fortinet's vice president of Asia Pacific. "An endorsement from Technology One says a lot about our technology, given the nature of their business and experience with many different security products."

Deloitte Touche TohmatsuSan Jose, California As a small focused team working on a variety of high profile projects, our main priorities are the quality of our work and the service we provide. IT has never been top of the agenda; the construction industry as a whole continues to use traditional processes and still communicates via fax and post in many instances. However, as more of our partners are working electronically, our IT has become business critical, and the need to secure our IT assets was something we knew we had to address, but without our IT expenditure going through the roof. |
