Fortinet Enhances and Extends Security Reporting and Analysis OfferingsDelivers Next Version of FortiLog™ Appliance Series and Introduces New Software-based FortiReporter™ Security AnalyzerSunnyvale, Calif., June 29, 2004 - Fortinet - the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection - today expanded its security logging, reporting and analysis solutions offerings with the availability of the next version of its FortiLog system and the introduction of a new product, FortiReporter Security Analyzer. Fortinet is partnering with eIQnetworks to deliver the FortiReporter tool, a software-based security reporting and analysis solution that is based on eIQ's award-winning Firewall Analyzer product. These complimentary products provide Fortinet's customers with vital information that enables them to better understand and manage their networks, spot and repel attacks, and eliminate network abuse. In today's enterprise, security logging, monitoring and reporting is not a choice, but a necessity. Government regulations such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act mandate that corporations collect and store security data and hold them legally responsible for protecting customer and corporate information. Additionally, network security administrators need a comprehensive understanding of their Internet and network activities, such as network bandwidth usage, virus and intrusion attack activity, application/protocol usage, and employee Internet use. This information typically resides on multiple and extensive log files, and converting individual event records into meaningful information typically requires administrators to use complex and often expensive analysis and reporting packages.
FortiReporter Security Analyzer: Robust Feature Set for Enterprises and Service Providers
The extensive FortiReporter library includes more than 400 different reporting options covering the full range of network and security activity - from network bandwidth usage to virus and intrusion attack activity, as well as several modes for accessing and sharing that information with IT and executive teams. Reports can be delivered in multiple languages and formats - including HTML, MS Word and MS Excel. Users have the ability generate and access reports remotely from a secure Internet connection via a Web-browser. Reports can also be sent easily via e-mail and can even be aggregated into individual Web portals - a great tool for MSSPs that need to provide reports for their customers. FortiReporter Security Analyzer also provides in-depth overviews of virus and worm activity and enables critical correlation to help IT administrators minimize response times and take proactive measures to reduce network vulnerabilities.
Enhanced Software for FortiLog Appliances Delivers Increased Intelligence, Ease-of-Use
Enhanced software available for the FortiLog family includes a number of new features designed that make it easier for administrators to collect, analyze and report detailed information about security and network activity. A new, highly-intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) and more than 60 new reports and report queries provide administrators with detailed intelligence on network and security activity by type, timeframe, source, user and traffic direction. "In order to make the critical decisions that affect the security and efficiency of their networks, administrators need tools that can quickly turn mountains of log data into actionable information," said Richard Kagan, vice president of marketing for Fortinet, Inc. "Our FortiLog family of systems and new FortiReporter Security Analyzer meet that challenge, enabling enterprises and managed security service providers to collect and process data and generate reports that can identify and mitigate network threats, inefficiency and abuse and to meet key compliance obligations."

Deloitte Touche TohmatsuSan Jose, California With such a large-scale project, we had stringent technical requirements and the FortiGate security systems demonstrated the resilience, scalability and capacity needed to cope with the enormity of our project. Fortinet's integrated security platform and per-system licensing also allowed us to take a centralized security and management approach and thus avoid the management and licensing challenges associated with the implementation of servers and separate point solutions. |
