"While historically UTM adoption in APAC was lead by small to medium businesses, we continue to witness a sharp increase in large enterprise adoption of Fortinet's UTM solutions," said Mr. Jens Andreassen, vice president of APAC sales for Fortinet. "We are pleased to see that our efforts to provide enterprise-class integrated security products, support and services to the large enterprise have enabled our growth and helped to secure our market share leadership."
IDC defines UTM security appliance products as those that integrate multiple security features within one device, including network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), and gateway anti-virus. Fortinet takes UTM further through its family of award-winning FortiGate™ multi-threat security systems that integrate eight essential security applications and services -- including firewall, antivirus, virtual private network (VPN), intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, Web content filtering and traffic shaping – that can be deployed individually, or combined as a UTM solution.
"Market adoption for UTM solutions continues to increase as all-sized businesses realize the security, operational and cost benefits of integrating critical security functions into an appliance," said Mr. Ken Xie, president, founder and CEO of Fortinet. "As evidenced by the latest IDC data, the enterprise UTM price band segment in particular witnessed significant growth in Q3, and Fortinet's share of this market grew as well. This shows that enterprises are recognizing the need for a truly integrated UTM solution to secure both their core networks and their remote offices, and are increasingly turning to Fortinet for their solution."
