Relationship to Enable Integrated Security Services with Real-Time Monitoring and Risk Management to Enterprises
SINGAPORE, 21 May 2008
- Fortinet - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions,
today announced that NCS Group, a leading regional information technology and communications engineering service provider in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, will deploy a robust managed security service based on Fortinet's multi-threat, integrated security platform. The managed security service will enable enterprise customers to outsource their IT security needs for optimal protection and threat management while reducing their capital and operational expenses.
Joining Fortinet's FortiPartner™ Program through this relationship, NCS Group will integrate Fortinet's FortiGateTM range of security appliances into its suite of managed security services and products. With a managed security services model, enterprise customers of all sizes will be able to optimize their capital and operational expenses by reducing short-term hardware expenses and long term-licensing costs. This offers enterprises the flexibility and scalability to deploy best-of-breed, integrated security solutions that meet their individual needs in securing their IT infrastructure. In addition, the FortiGate solution will enable NCS Group to provide real-time threat monitoring, reporting and management, which allows for maximum availability of customers' security infrastructure with minimal disruption to business operation. Finally, by deploying a managed security service with Fortinet's consolidated network security solution as the base technology, enterprise customers will also be able to positively affect their environmental impact by reducing the number of devices required to protect the network and, thereby, reducing power consumption.
"Security threats are increasing in complexity at a rapid pace. At the same time, corporate networks are becoming more complex as businesses and their supply chains are increasingly globalised and operating under different regulatory regimes," said Jens Andreassen, vice president, Asia Pacific, Fortinet. "Within this challenging security environment, organizations are also facing resource constraints and are discovering that the managed security services model can deliver the required level of security that is both less complex and more cost effective. To cater to this growing demand, we are very pleased that NCS Group has chosen Fortinet security appliances to offer managed security services to enterprises in Singapore and the region."
According to a recent IDC Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) Managed Security Services Study, the Managed Security Services market is expected to exceed US$604 million in 2008, representing a 20.4% increase over 2007. IDC expects this market to reach US$1.1 billion in 2012 with a 5-year CAGR of 17.1%, which will significantly outperform the overall ICT outsourcing and managed services market.¹
"Enterprises can no longer ignore security spending given the increasingly sophisticated and rapidly evolving security threats," said Adrian Dominic Ho, research manager for IDC's Asia/Pacific Managed Services and Enterprises Networks. "Today, managed security services are no longer simply about firewalls and anti viruses. Enterprises are looking for crisis management, disaster recovery and business continuity services to ensure 24/7 uptime of their business in the event of a significant business disruption. For service providers, this will be the ultimate cash cow. The managed security market has written itself a new chapter." ²
"As a leading IT security services provider for over 25 years, NCS is the industry leader in delivering managed security services to enterprises," said Lim Eng, CEO, NCS Group. "Our collaboration with Fortinet, an industry leader in UTM, enhances our capability to help enterprises secure their IT infrastructure and better management of the security threats and risks from both the internal and external environment, without the need for substantial and risky upfront investment in technology and equipment."
Fortinet's FortiGate security appliances are specifically designed to deliver best-of-breed, network-level and content-level threat protection. The FortiGate platform provides essential network defenses that keep networks running smoothly and securely by integrating enterprise firewall, virtual private network (VPN), intrusion prevention, antivirus/antimalware, Web filtering, anti-spam and application control features. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard™ Network, which provides continuous updates to help ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic - around the clock and around the world.
The NCS Group offers a complete suite of in-depth defence solutions to address the wide range of security issues that confront organizations today. Their state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre (SOC) provides across-the-board, round-the-clock insights into organizations' network and security posture and offers a full-spectrum of security services to manage and mitigate all hazards and threats. NCS' service delivery approach is based on the NCS IT Service Management (ITSM) Framework, which consists of a comprehensive suite of integrated processes and best practices aligned with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
