Fortinet's FortiClient Software Receives Acclaimed Virus Bulletin (VB) 100% Award

FortiClient™ desktop antivirus, firewall and VPN security software recognized for its outstanding antivirus capabilities

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 14, 2005 - Fortinet - the confirmed market leader in Unified Threat Management (UTM) and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection - today announced that its FortiClient Host Security software has received the Virus Bulletin 100% award for its exemplary virus-detection capabilities. The Virus Bulletin (VB) 100% awards recognize products that have been tested by independent experts and proven to accurately detect 100 percent of viruses known to be 'in the wild,' which constitutes real-world viruses. Fortinet is the only network security vendor to date to receive a unique and in-demand set of security certifications - VB 100% for its desktop software, NSS certification for its intrusion prevention system (IPS) technology and ICSA certification for four distinct security applications: antivirus, firewall, IDP and IPSec VPN.

Virus Bulletin staff tested various antivirus products for their detection rates, lack of false positives and speed of scanning on the Windows NT platform. Fortinet's receipt of the VB 100% award for its FortiClient software validates the company's consistent investment in internally-developed antivirus technology and expertise in protecting against viruses at both the client and network level - a key criteria for any size enterprise.

Fortinet's FortiClient Host Security software addresses the need for secure access and endpoint protection for telecommuters, mobile workers, remote sites and partners. An easy-to use IPSec VPN software solution, FortiClient features host antivirus, host anti-spyware, a personal firewall and registry monitoring. FortiClient supports the most popular Microsoft Windows operating systems natively and also includes network address translation (NAT) traversal, centralized policy management, multiple policy support for access to multiple devices, strong encryption, and a comprehensive set of tools for troubleshooting. Designed to extend real-time protection to the desktop and mobile users, FortiClient automatically removes viruses, spyware, worms and other network threats by scanning and cleaning both incoming and outgoing email messages.

"We are proud to receive the Virus Bulletin 100% award, a highly-coveted accolade in the antivirus industry from one of the most respected antivirus testing organizations in the world," said Richard Hanke, vice president of product management at Fortinet. "This award is a testament to Fortinet's strength in the antivirus security market, the technical prowess of our FortiClient host antivirus technology and our ability to providing end-to-end real-time network security."
